This blog is about who i am and all my quirks and interests. So expect some random things even now and then:)
Since, for an English speaker, HypMic can seem inscrutable, I figured I’d put together some links and resources in one place to make it a little easier to get the full picture. If any other fans think there’s anything I should add, please let me know! I’ll note up ahead that this guide focuses on stuff that’s free and online, and doesn’t (yet) have instructions on how to buy either CDs or manga. I’ve also left out information on the battle seasons, since last year’s is all wrapped up and the next one might be different (and since they’re mostly about CD buying).
The scope of this guide may make it look like there’s a lot. Don’t worry, once you get into it a little bit, it isn’t that much! It really, really isn’t…
Each group has different areas of focus, so we’ll get to ‘em when we get to ‘em!
The Characters
This is the main draw of the franchise for most people! The characters are a lot of fun and lend themselves to, well, the sorts of things fans like to do.
Hypmic_en also has a few lyrics translations throughout their wordpress, linked above.
The Drama Tracks
This is where the bulk of the narrative exists right now. The canon, basically. This is the main place you’re gonna get any lore or proper characterization!
Drama tracks playlist on official YouTube [YouTube link] (has only the main ones; also note that they’re not great about adding newly posted tracks to the playlist, so you’ll have to go through all videos for the more recent ones)
Three HypMic manga are currently running: “Before the Battle: The Dirty Dawg”, “Division Rap Battle: side B.B & M.T.C”, and “Division Rap Battle: side F.P & M”. At time of writing, the former is covering backstories; the latter two are retreading ground already covered by the early drama tracks, with some additions and expansions.
Palcy, a free manga app [QooApp link], has the TDD and BB&MTC manga on it, readable for free in Japanese (well, they cost your daily tickets, I guess); they’re available a little while after the proper release.
The voice actors of HypMic are infrequently involved in live shows that feature rapping, singing, events, and announcements. Some of these shows are streamed, and some of these streams are still uploaded in various places. They’re fun! But since not all of them survive online anymore, and because they concern the voice actors more than the characters they play, nobody (in English-speaking fandom, at least) really considers them canon.
Some streams are on the official NicoNico, linked above.
Hypmic_en also summarizes some of the lives as they happen, on their twitter, linked above.
The Mobile Game
…isn’t out yet. And nobody knows what it’s going to be about. It releases this year, but so far we just have, like, a vague announcement ad. Whelp! It’s got a page on QooApp [QooApp link], and that’s all I can really give you. Let’s all hope it’s good when it releases.
